Thornton Says Goodbye to Florida, What’s His Next Step?
It looks like Joe Thornton isn’t going back to the Florida Panthers.
According to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now, Thornton’s wife Tabea wrote in her private Instagram, ”South Florida, I loved our time together! This break-up hurts and I will miss you.”
This isn’t a surprise. Similar to fellow San Jose Sharks legend Patrick Marleau last off-season, Thornton’s career may be going quietly into the night.
While Thornton’s future is unclear, there have recently been rumors that he would be moving to a management position in Switzerland. Though it is unconfirmed at this time, the former Shark leaving Florida and not yet having signed with another team in the NHL might point to Thornton’s departure to a new role.
