Sheng’s Daily: Gregor Signs, Donato Leaves, Bruins Eyeing Hertl?
RFA Noah Gregor, per his uncle Jason Gregor, is back with the San Jose Sharks on a one-year, two-way contract for $750,000 in the NHL or $200,000 in the AHL.
The 23-year-old is still waiver-exempt and it’s a deeper San Jose forward corps this season — that makes him a strong candidate to start the regular season with the Barracuda.
The speedy winger has shown obvious flashes of talent in his two NHL seasons, but he’s yet to put it together and carve himself out a regular NHL role.
Meanwhile, RFA Ryan Donato, who became a UFA when the San Jose Sharks neglected to qualify him, signed a one-year veteran’s minimum contract with the Seattle Kraken.
Donato came to San Jose hoping to grab a top-six role, but by the end of the season, he was a healthy scratch.
The Sharks never really spelled out why they were displeased with Donato’s play, but a recent micro-stats dump from InStat Hockey and JFreshHockey illuminated the winger’s problems with turnovers:
