Fabian Zetterlund was surprised to get traded.

He says he was in the sauna when he got dealt to the Ottawa Senators, and when he came out, his phone had blown up.

“It’s business,” Zetterlund told Senators reporters on Sunday. “Things happen quick.”

Zetterlund shared that he doesn’t really know any of the Senators, but he did chat with Sens legend and fellow Swede Daniel Alfredsson in his availability.

He’s also, of course, excited to join the playoff race with Ottawa. The Sens are hanging onto the last wild card berth in the Eastern Conference right now.

Zetterlund also said on Monday that he’s living with Tim Stutzle.

Early access for Saturday’s game was supposed to be 5:30pm, but they didn’t start letting people in until like 5:37. I thought that was a nice touch for women’s night, that they took too long to get ready.

Yeah it’s definitely in poor taste but anecdotally my wife and daughter are always hilariously late to leave for everything.

I sure hope the Sharks’ pro scouts are right about Zack Ostapchuk. It just seems like too high a price for a largely unproven player given that Zetto was a 25 yo RFA, cost-controlled, and proven middle 6 player with 41 goals the last 2 seasons…

Walman was really timid in San Jose. He was offensively engaged the first 20 or so games then was nearly invisible the last 20 games. I think losing was too difficult for him.

Along this vein, Zetterlund was credited with 6 hits tonight in 10 minutes with Ottawa. How often he have 6 hits in a game for the Sharks?

The Zetterlund trade is a headscratcher. I saw an article that says Zetterlund’s underlying stats suggest his goals total may have been somewhat exaggerated by playing on PP1 and getting top 6 minutes. But still…

Let’s see what the extension with Ottawa looks like. Maybe that will tell us more about the trade.
