Pros & Cons of Re-Signing Hertl

William Karlsson of VGK got an 8-yr deal at 7.2% ($47.2M total contract value) of the cap at age 26. Karlsson’s their 2nd line center. i see Hertl getting 8.6% of the cap. that’s $7,013,777M per ($49.096M total contract value on 7-yr deal). he’ll be signing that deal at age 28, for his age 29 season and beyond. DW shouldn’t want to give him a deal beyond 5 years, but i don’t see Hertl’s agent convincing him to do so. this could end up being a problematic signing for them.
