Thomas Bordeleau should be back in the line-up soon.

On Jan. 3 against the Tucson Roadrunners, Bordeleau suffered an undetermined injury in a 6-4 San Jose Barracuda victory.

Barracuda head coach John McCarthy confirmed to Marko Ukalovic of Bay Area Sports Wrap on Tuesday that the top San Jose Sharks prospect’s injury was “not long-term”. McCarthy didn’t go into any further detail about the injury.

It’s San Jose Hockey Now’s understanding that the injury should be considered day-to-day, so expect Bordeleau back soon.

The 22-year-old center-winger started the season with the San Jose Sharks, scoring his first NHL goal, but by-and-large struggled in six games up the middle with the big club.

Bordeleau has been with the Barracuda since Nov. 3 and found immediate success at the wing, going on a seven-points-in-five-games tear that month.

However, he’s slowed down since then, with just three goals and two assists in his last 12 appearances. In total, Bordeleau has eight goals and seven assists in 22 games with the Cuda.

Regardless, the San Jose Sharks’ AHL affiliate, six points out of the last playoff spot in the Pacific Division, will miss Bordeleau’s offensive skill-set, for however long that he’s out.

Their next game is Jan. 12 at Tech CU Arena versus the Bakersfield Condors.
