SJHN Daily: Musty Suspended Again, Sharks Recall Thrun

Quentin Musty leads the OHL with close to two Points Per Game (1.94).

The San Jose Sharks prospect also has two suspensions this year.

On Dec. 5, the OHL announced that for the second time this season, the Sudbury Wolves winger had been suspended for two games for slewfooting an opponent. On Dec. 3, Musty received a match penalty for slewfooting a Mississauga Steelheads player. On Nov. 15, he received a match penalty for slewfooting a Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds player.

There don’t seem to be any public replays of these incidents. But the OHL does review slew-footing match penalties, which carry an automatic two-game suspension, after the fact, to ensure that the suspensions were justified.

Here’s a reminder of how dangerous a slewfoot can be. We saw this earlier in the season when Nils Hoglander was given a match penalty for slewfooting Kevin Labanc.

You love Musty playing with an edge, but hopefully, the top prospect learns to rein it in.

The San Jose Sharks came back from down three goals for the second-straight game on Thursday.

Tomas Hertl’s leadership both on and off the ice played a big role in both comeback wins.

Calen Addison understands and agrees with his benching in the third period of Tuesday’s game against the Islanders.

Sharks coach David Quinn provided the latest injury updates on Logan Couture and others.

William Eklund and Alexander Barabanov broke down Hertl’s game-tying goal on Long Island.

Henry Thrun has been recalled from the Barracuda.

Sasha Barkov headlined a big night for Finnish Hockey in South Florida on Wednesday.

A TSN analyst ripped Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas for making the same mistakes he did in Toronto.

The Boston Bruins lost star defenseman Charlie McAvoy to an injury on Thursday night.

New York Islanders stars Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal shined in a blowout win over Columbus.

The Colorado Avalanche need more players than just Nathan MacKinnon to step up.

Alex Ovechkin became the 16th player in NHL history to reach 1,600 points.

Patrick Kane laments missing out on a chance to be a hero in his Detroit Red Wings debut against the Sharks. He came back strong tonight…
