3 Under-the-Radar Sharks Questions | SJHN+

The San Jose Sharks are ready to roll this season.

Yesterday, the Sharks released their opening night roster:

Eklund, Dahlen, Hatakka, Weatherby Make Sharks Opening Night Roster

It was an interesting mix of young and old: For example, as many as four San Jose Sharks could make their NHL debuts on opening night, Jonathan Dahlen, William Eklund, Santeri Hatakka, and Jasper Weatherby.

In contrast, two 2020-21 Sharks (John Leonard, Nicolas Meloche) and three 2019-20 Sharks (Lean Bergmann, Mario Ferraro, Danil Yurtaykin) debuted on their respective opening nights.

Of course, this roster begs many a question. There are the obvious: Are they good enough to contend for a playoff spot? How will the teenage Eklund perform? Is Adin Hill really the answer between the pipes?

And then, there are the not so obvious: Will this, finally, be Timo Meier’s breakout season? Who will play with Nick Bonino and why does that matter so much? Where is Marc-Edouard Vlasic’s game at?

Let’s answer these under-the-radar but crucial questions.
