Preview/Lines #2: Granlund Out Week-to-Week, Peterson Recalled

The San Jose Sharks center corps has taken another blow.

After opening the season without captain Logan Couture, they’ve now lost Mikael Granlund with a week-to-week lower-body injury.

Week to week, by the way, is the hope, and not the promise.

“The uncertainty stinks. When you get hurt, someone tells you it’s gonna be six weeks, at least there’s a peace of mind,” San Jose Sharks head coach David Quinn said about Couture and Granlund’s lower-body injuries. “Whereas [when] you’re dealing with injuries that are unpredictable, it’s harder, I think, emotionally.”

Between Couture and Granlund, that’s two of San Jose’s top-three pivots. Already, for Couture, the Sharks had called up prospect Thomas Bordeleau. Now Granlund’s stead, the Sharks have recalled Jacob Peterson.

Last year for the Sharks, Peterson did put up an impressive eight points in 11 games, albeit as a winger and next to San Jose’s other top-three center Tomas Hertl, after coming in a Trade Deadline deal with the Dallas Stars. The 24-year-old does have extensive experience up the middle.
