Preview/Lines #13: Karlsson Could Stand Alone in Hockey History Tonight
Karlsson makes history: 10 goals for a defenseman in his first 13 team games in a season is a post-WWII NHL record

Here’s what the San Jose Sharks star is shooting for tonight against the Anaheim Ducks:
- Karlsson is ahead of Bobby Orr’s 13-game pace right now, but Orr is the NHL record-holder for most goals by a defenseman after 17 team games with 12 in 1974-75.
- Karlsson has a chance to set the San Jose Sharks record for most points after 14 team games tonight. He has 18 points after 13 games. Patrick Marleau (2009-10), Owen Nolan (1999-00), and Craig Janney (1995-96) share the franchise record with 19 points through 14 games.
- Looking ahead at other franchise marks, Marleau had 21 points in 15 team games to kick off 2009-10. For Sharks defensemen, Brent Burns had 20 points after 16 contests to begin the 2018-19 campaign.
Karlsson keeps defying expectations, why not once again tonight?
San Jose Sharks (3-8-2)
David Quinn suggested that the San Jose Sharks should run the same line-up tonight as they did in their last game. That includes James Reimer starting.
In that case:
#SJSharks lines tonight, Labanc on top line, Gregor in, Reimer starts:
Meier-Hertl-Labanc⁰Nieto-Couture-Barabanov⁰Bonino-Sturm-Kunin⁰Lindblom-Lorentz-Gregor
Megna-Karlsson⁰Vlasic-Benning⁰Ferraro-Simek
