Why are free agents Matt Dumba, Tomas Tatar, and Max Comtois still on the market? And how might they fit the San Jose Sharks?

REPORT: Sharks Offered Tarasenko $6 Million?

Two NHL scouts and independent pro scouting service Team 33 shared their thoughts with San Jose Hockey Now.

Matt Dumba

Dumba had a minuscule 0.18 Points Per Game, his lowest since his first season as a 19-year-old. That came out to just 14 points in 79 games.

But he’s just 28, and from 2016 to 2022, he averaged 0.49 Points Per Game. That’s a healthy 40-point 82-game pace.

Team 33 told the San Jose Hockey Now Podcast that there’s reason to believe that Dumba can re-connect to his offensive game, which could be a boon to the San Jose Sharks if they trade Erik Karlsson.
