Locked On Sharks
It’s Time for Sharks to Make Up Ground

Kyle and JD are sad that there’s no hockey. We break down what that means for both the San Jose Sharks and the Barracuda — we look into the cancellations of their games and the Barracuda player’s positive test. We then jump forward to what their line-up will look like when they play against the Ducks (5:00) and why these next series are so important for the Sharks (8:30). We then discuss some of our favorite San Jose Sharks players to watch so far this season (16:30) and hope the team does not claim a specific just-waived defenseman.

We should be focused on rebuilding and getting good drafts, even if that means losing more games and trading some of our better players.
It is a good point, but you have to have a trade partner for those players. Right now, you wouldn’t get fair value for those players. It’s easy to say trade Vlasic, Burns, etc, but actually getting a trade in place for those players is tough without giving them up for 50 cents on the dollar.
They do seem draft-focused, hence not giving up their 2020 first-rounder; think Doug has publicly set aside 2021 1st too. Problem with the big contracts though? It’s not so much not getting much back for them — I think Sharks could live with that — but it’s what you have to trade with contracts for people to take them back. For example, the worst 3, probably Jones/Vlasic/Karlsson — nobody is taking them for free right now. You would need to add multiple high picks or better prospects to get rid of any one of them. So stuck between rock and… Read more »
