BREAKING: Sharks Select Will Smith No. 4

NASHVILLE — The San Jose Sharks have selected forward Will Smith out of USNTDP with the 4th overall pick.

Smith scored 51 goals and racked up 76 assists in 60 games for the National team and was named the MVP of the Under 18s this spring. Smith is known for his offensive skill, elite vision, and his ability to put the puck in the net.

Per the Elite Prospects NHL Draft Guide:

“It’s not hard to see the appeal with Smith. He’s one of the draft’s most gifted puckhandlers, a human highlight reel almost every time he steps onto the ice. His ability to turn the mundane – like a pass reception on the breakout or a puck retrieval along the wall – into something special is really something to behold.”

Smith is expected to attend Boston College this fall with USNTDP teammates and projected top-15 picks Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault.
