What’s Karlsson’s Sharks Legacy?
Now that the dust has settled from the Erik Karlsson trade, it’s time to revisit the original trade that brought him to the San Jose Sharks and the circumstances that led to it, including the Evander Kane trade and re-signing, and how the pursuit of John Tavares in the summer of 2018 eventually compelled the San Jose Sharks to acquire Karlsson and reward him with a new contract. Then, I look at his legacy in San Jose and how many fans will always have a polarizing view of Karlsson and a “Yeah, but…” attitude toward him despite his production (14:00). Finally, a crack at what the opening night lines could look like with the additions of Mike Hoffman, Mikael Granlund, and Jan Rutta (21:00).
