Very interesting stuff from Hockey Prospecting–not just on our goalie situation, but the top-five ranking overall and comment on how one or two more high-level incoming prospects in the next year or two and we’d be ready to roll. Quite the difference from not that long ago! Have to think DW Jr. deserves a lot of credit for the quick turnaround.

i guess it just depends on whose doing the ranking. personally i find them to be somewhere in the middle. they aren’t as deep as the top pipelines across the board. those teams have more than 1 highly regarded player at each position. the Sharks do have a lot of mediocre depth (middle 6 F’s/2nd pair D’s/backup quality G’s).

our new (RFA) goalie has elected to go to arbitration. this smells like a $3M 1-yr award to me if the Sharks can’t come to an agreeable longer term contract with the player. i’m guessing the Sharks tried to offer him a deal that SP was outlining in his articles and he rejected them as too low. not sure if it’s term or $. leaning towards $. probably didn’t like that they signed Reimer as well to compete for playing time/#1 status.
