The NHL announced yesterday that teams would be allowed to open their training facilities for limited skates and workouts on October 15th. However, that doesn’t mean yet that the San Jose Sharks will start to gather in mid-October at Solar4America Ice — Santa Clara County guidelines will supersede any of the league’s guidelines.

Per the County of Santa Clara, to San Jose Hockey Now: “At this time, we have not received a proposed plan from the San Jose Sharks for review. We are also awaiting further guidance from the State related to cohort limitations. Once we have more information, we will review it and welcome dialogue to determine whether or not there is a way to facilitate team practice and games in a manner that minimizes risk to players, team staff and the public.”

Essentially, the NHL’s proposed October 15th opening doesn’t necessarily apply to the San Jose Sharks — they’ll need to receive the County of Santa Clara’s approval first.

This doesn’t mean, however, that nothing’s going on in Sharks-related facilities, as the organization is currently upgrading SAP Center. (Teal Town USA)
