The San Jose Sharks visit Martin Jones and the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. Logan Couture and Timo Meier got the Sharks on the board in the opening frame, but the Kraken roared back to take 4-2 and 6-4 leads. Meier got the hat trick and Alexander Barabanov notched one, but Seattle dropped eight goals on San Jose for the 8-5 win.

Period 1

1 in: Barabanov exit turnover. He’s having a tough time last couple games after a solid start to the season.

2 in: Karlsson erases Donato defensively. He doesn’t defend well accepting rush, skating backwards, but if he’s able to skate forward to cut off, that’s to his skating strengths.

Couture goal: Couture then Barabanov on forecheck, and Nieto gets to loose puck first. Cicek point shot, Soucy doesn’t tie up Couture’s stick. Last time (and first time) that Couture scored on Martin Jones in a game was the game-winner on Apr. 3, 2014 when Jones was a Kings rookie.

San Jose Sharks too many men: Undisciplined? Wonder if two Sharks jumped on for Couture because the Kraken for trying to turn it around with the puck, looking for short-handed attack. But Karlsson was back too, no reason to panic.

Then another unforced error, off draw, Benning on kill skies it into netting, and Sharks are down two men for no reason. Burakovsky scores.

Kahkonen keeps it tied though with a couple good saves on PK. Strong side-to-side push to deny Burakovsky. When he’s on, his talent is obvious.

8 left: Karlsson pulls in two Kraken down low, finds open Labanc. Jaw-dropping play there.

4 left: San Jose Sharks denied a couple times on entry, Barabanov then Gregor. Something to watch for, Kraken are good defensively.

2 left: Karlsson takes Oleksiak’s soul, wow.

Meier goal: The key is the Karlsson one-touch pass, Jones has no time to go side to side on Meier.

Period 2

1 in : Vlasic goes man to man, forces Tanev from low to high, good defending.

3 in: Great Lorentz effort on PK, kills time with speed and hustle.

Dunn goal: Disappointing San Jose Sharks team defense, Beniers beats Bonino by a tad to outside, and Sharks allow a slot pass that they shouldn’t (looks like Megna), and Kunin doesn’t tie up Dunn’s stick.

Donato goal: More disappointing D. Think Lorentz has to recognize the slot, that Ferraro is attacking the pass. Hedican and Remenda says that Ferraro needs to chill out and not chase though, protect the dangerous area.

Oleksiak goal: San Jose Sharks have fallen apart. Playing dead in the water.

Followed by a trying-too-hard-to-make-a-difference pinch by Megna, not even close puck, leads to clear-cut 2-on-1, Kahkonen comes up with a big stop.

Meier goal: But Timo restores some order, nice Hertl stretch pass.

6 left: Gregor and Bonino on forecheck, love it, Bonino finds Kunin for fantastic chance.

4 left: San Jose Sharks got way with one there, Brandon Tanev misses a wide-open net. He says Benning hampered him, should be call, but nothing doing.

Period 3

Barabanov goal: Love that net front by Sharks forwards on point shots from Vlasic then Benning.

Bjorkstrand goal: Karlsson D-to-D pass handcuffs Megna, but Lorentz has a chance to get it out, doesn’t. Bjorkstrand all by himself.

Schwartz goal: There’s one that you want a save on by Kahkonen, I think. Bad Meier turnover, but need a stop at some point.

Meier goal: What a feed by Labanc, kicked off by strong Couture line forecheck.

9 left: Lindblom’s second effort more noticeable tonight. Hopefully, he’s turning the corner.

Beniers goal: One on one, Beniers vs. Kahkonen, Beniers wins it. Not great team D, but again, could use a stop.

2 left: Kahkonen pulled, Jones stop, Sharks could use that timeout. But I still think Quinn made the right decision, coaches save that TO too much in my opinion.
