SOURCE: Sharks’ New Teal Jerseys ‘Should Be Debuting’ in 2022-23
The San Jose Sharks’ rebrand might be happening sooner than expected.
On Saturday, Ali Murji leaked a “mainly teal” Sharks rebrand, purportedly earmarked for the 2023-24 season. Icethetics confirmed the legitimacy of Murji’s screenshot, but suggested that these new home and away jerseys could debut as soon as the 2022-23 campaign.
It looks like icethetics was on the right track.
“Been told that the Sharks are ‘more likely’ to use their new rebrand in the 2022-23 season by a team source,” Murji tweeted yesterday. “There was a lot surrounding if the team was to wear it this year or push it back due to shipping delays and the current timing right now.”

This fits with what San Jose Hockey Now has heard recently.
A source told SJHN that these new home and road San Jose Sharks jerseys “should be debuting” in 2022-23.
For what it’s worth, it’s also SJHN’s understanding that Sharks goalies have been told “no orange” on their pads this year. Orange has been a Sharks’ secondary color since 2007, but according to Murji’s leaks, it’s leaving the team’s color palette for good.
There’s no word if orange is leaving the Sharks’ logo, but it won’t be a secondary color anymore.
According to icethetics, there is still uncertainty about whether or not the Sharks’ new home jerseys will have teal or black pants:
“The gear with the teal uniform could be black,” icethetics noted in this YouTube video.
While this seems very last minute to debut new home and away jerseys, this wouldn’t be the first time that the Sharks unveiled home and away kits in September or later.
Erik Kuhre of Teal Town USA pointed out recently: “When San Jose unveiled the Reebok Edge jerseys, they were the last team to unveil just hours before the Teal and White Scrimmage in September 2007.”
Is history about to repeat itself? We’re 10 days away from the Rookie Faceoff on Sept. 16, the prelude to San Jose Sharks’ training camp.
The Sharks did not host a Teal and White Scrimmage last pre-season, instead opting for their first-ever Skills Showcase.
If the Sharks do indeed debut new home and away jerseys this season, it’ll be three new jerseys for both the Sharks and their AHL farm team San Jose Barracuda.
The San Jose Sharks are expected to roll out a California Golden Seals-inspired Reverse Retro this season too.
Meanwhile, the Barracuda have unveiled white, gray, and black jerseys this summer, in the process doing away with their orange kit.

Special thanks to Erik Kuhre for allowing me to use his mockup of Murji’s screenshot.
