BREAKING: Sharks Pick Havelid No. 45
The San Jose Sharks picked defenseman Mattias Havelid at No. 45 of the seocnd round.
Mattias Hävelid is a right-shot defenseman. Standing at 5-foot-10 and 172-pounds, Hävelid spent the 2021-22 season with Linköping HC, playing 23 games against men in the SHL. While he picked up no points in the SHL, he picked up 10 goals and nine assists in 29 games with the Linköping HC J20 team. His twin brother is a goaltender, who also spent the season playing for the Linköping system.
He’s also teammates with San Jose Sharks’ first-rounder Filip Bystedt.

“The hockey IQ and vision that Hävelid has is at top level, and he is a dynamic puckhandler and distributor that keeps things interesting in every moment of his offensive game. Hävelid can makes plays in high speed and makes unpredictable things happen with long and accurate passes that open up the game in a unique way.”
Havelid says he will be attending San Jose Sharks development camp.
