BREAKING: Sharks Take Lund at No. 34
The San Jose Sharks picked Cameron Lund with the 34th overall selection of the 2022 NHL Draft. Lund is a 6-foot-2 forward who spent the season with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, picking up 25 goals and 25 assists in 62 games. While skating may not be his greatest strength, his playmaking abilities have improved throughout the year and Lund reportedly has many other qualities to look forward to.
Per the 2022 Elite Prospects Draft Guide:
“Already armed with an NHL shot, Lund’s a threat from distance in the USHL, but instead of settling for low-percentage shots, he’s always looking for inside-lane opportunities. Without the puck, he flips same-side support readied for quick passes and sneaky far-post positioning for one-timers. With it, he baits defenders into chasing him wide, then cuts inside and shoots in one smooth motion.”
The San Jose Sharks have gone for size up front so far in this Draft, taking 6-foot-3 Filip Bystedt yesterday.
Lund says he will be attending San Jose Sharks development camp tomorrow.
Lund says he's a "big, offensive wing" and models his game after Jack Eichel. Will be attending Northeastern next year
