San Jose Sharks
BREAKING: Sharks Pick Muldowney at No. 172
With the 172nd pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks have selected Joey Muldowney. Coming to the Sharks from the Nichols School USHS-Prep team, the 5-foot-11 and 154-pound winger put up 57 goals and 40 assists in 56 games.
HockeyProspect.com has noted that Muldowney’s speed and agility work well in giving him an effective transition game, further saying that he has good vision and playmaking ability. While it’s mentioned that he has a positive goal-scoring ability, he needs to work on his physical development. He’s a little small for his height and adding some muscle will add to his frame and make him more difficult to play against for years to come. It’s one area the San Jose Sharks will undoubtedly be working with him to improve.
Muldowney is currently committed to the University of Connecticut. He plans on attending San Jose Sharks development camp.
Muldowney is with his girlfriend in South Carolina for her soccer tournament (she's a Gamecock). Says his advisor texted him first, then he kept refreshing the NHL draft pick tracker until he saw his name show up. Says it was the longest refresh of his life

An NHL scout texted me about Muldowney: "There’s your out of left field high school Sharks guy haha"
