SOURCE: Evander Kane Getting Over “Bad” COVID Case
When will Evander Kane play for the San Jose Barracuda again?
According to a source, his return might be delayed.
On Dec. 22, Kane was placed in COVID protocol, along with Jasper Weatherby and Nick Cicek. San Jose Hockey Now reported then that Kane was dealing with “COVID symptoms, severity unknown.”
It’s been more than 10 days since Kane was placed in protocol, but he was absent from the Barracuda’s Jan. 2 tilt against the Stockton Heat. Meanwhile, Cicek played and Weatherby was with the San Jose Sharks in Pittsburgh.
Evander Kane still isn’t fully recovered from his bout with COVID, a source told San Jose Hockey Now.
While Kane isn’t dealing with active COVID symptoms anymore, he had a “bad” case of it.
The source did not divulge Kane’s specific symptoms.
At the moment, there’s no timetable for Kane’s return to the Barracuda. The winger has eight points in five AHL games.
The Barracuda is set to host the Henderson Silver Knights this Friday and Saturday.
In late November, Evander Kane stated that he was fully vaccinated. The San Jose Sharks star was suspended by the NHL for 21 games at the beginning of the 2021-22 season for an unspecified COVID protocol violation. Allegedly, Kane tried to submit a fake vaccination card to the NHL over the summer.
