“I thought he was our best forward tonight.”

That was high praise from San Jose Sharks head coach Bob Boughner after a win, especially for a waiver wire pick-up.

The question for Rudolfs Balcers, the common question for any unproven 23-year-old forward: Can he keep it up?

But for one night, the 2015 San Jose fifth-round pick flashed the potential that made him so intriguing to Ottawa in the Erik Karlsson trade.

Balcers only notched a single assist in the Sharks’ 3-2 OT victory over the Blues. But big or small plays, he was consistently dangerous.
