Will Scouch Talks 2021 NHL Draft Class, Ivan Chekhovich

Kyle, Erik, and JD have Will Scouch on to talk about a topic that might be relevant to the San Jose Sharks soon — the top of the 2021 NHL Draft class. He talks about why goalie Jesper Wallstedt might go high. Then he breaks down why he prefers Luke Hughes to Owen Power (7:30), jumps on San Jose Sharks prospect Thomas Bordeleau’s hype train with us (16:00), and breaks down some of the other forwards in the draft (19:00). He explains why Aatu Räty could be a steal (24:30), the main stats he looks for when grading players (32:30), the player he would stay away from at the top of the draft (45:00), and which Draft prospect could crack the NHL immediately (50:00). Finally, Scouch weighs in on Ivan Chekhovich’s season in Russia (51:30).

Keep up with all things San Jose Sharks here:
there’s no generational talent/franchise center in this draft, so i agree with Scouch that taking Wallstedt in the the top 10 isn’t a bad pick.
college players are more developed-physically and their game-and are more suited to jumping into the NHL immediately.
is Raty pronounced “Ratoo”?
i have Martino around #40 overall currently.
this draft class didn’t have a single dominant F performance at the WJC, unlike the previous 6. very thin elite F class. could end up with an Alex Galchenyuk situation if you take a F high in the draft.
Maybe there’s something to be said about recent goalie development but Nabokov, Kiprusoff, Toskala, Greiss and Stalock were all pretty well developed by SJ.
I’m hoping that other teams are geared towards Power and Hughes. I really want Beniers in teal. If not him, Raty is my next choice. I just can’t justify picking a goalie that high.
Go Sharks!!
