They debate Best Player Available vs Drafting for Need in an uncertain draft, drafting for guys who could make an impact earlier (8:30), Jesper Wallstedt playing in the NHL as a 20-year-old (16:30), and when the forward prospects should make an impact (18:00). go with the Bill Walsh method. figure out how each player can/can’t help your team and adjust your draft board accordingly. Bill was a big believer in acquiring as much talent as possible, but he didn’t always take the “best available”. he wouldn’t necessarily take the “best athlete”. he watched film and if he saw a player make a high end/difficult level play, he felt he could get that from the player on a consistent basis thru coaching. i personally like players who can transition the puck and push defenses back, so rush ability+on puck skills. i also think drafting… Read more »
