When the OHL was shut down, Artem Guryev would drive five hours round-trip every weekday to keep playing hockey during the pandemic.

Well, him and his dad. His dad drove.

“There was no skating in Peterborough where I used to live, and no gyms were open,” the defensive prospect revealed in a recent interview with San Jose Hockey Now. “I used to go to Toronto, then go to Hamilton. It’s another hour from Toronto. I used to get home around 6 PM, go to sleep, and keep doing the same thing all year long.”

And when did Guryev get up?

“5 AM,” he said. “It was fun. I actually loved it though.”
