REPORT: Sharks Prospect Alex Young Transferring to Arizona State
Alex Young is headed to the desert?
That’s the word on the 2020 San Jose Sharks’ seventh-round pick, who hit the transfer portal earlier this week, that he’s Arizona State-bound. Young, who just completed his junior season, has amassed 31 goals and 39 assists in 79 games over the last two years at Colgate University. But the centerman, who has seen both brother Colton Young and long-time head coach Don Vaughan leave the Raiders recently, looks like he’s ready to go to the Sun Devils.
Look for Arizona State to land Alex Young of Colgate out of the transfer portal

San Jose Hockey Now can corroborate Divver’s report, that Young should be joining Arizona State.
ASU head coach Greg Powers and staff have done a good job of turning the Sun Devils into a credible Division 1 program from scratch — Arizona State’s first D1 season was 2015 — and now they’re adding the San Jose Sharks prospect, Colgate’s scoring leader and lone Hobey Baker nominee last season, to the fold.
As for Young’s NHL chances, the 5-foot-11 forward, as is common with a player of his height and skill profile, is said to need to work on his skating and strength. The 22-year-old’s progress in those areas — and a productive senior season — will help the San Jose Sharks decide whether or not they’ll offer Young an ELC.
