What’s Rudolf Balcers’s Ceiling?

Credit: NHL

It’s been a while since San Jose Sharks fans have seen Rudolfs Balcers.

Well, that’s not exactly true. Balcers, despite just 51 NHL games to his name, has played in San Jose in both of the Ottawa Senators’ visits to SAP Center over the last two seasons.

The Sharks hope Balcers will see plenty of San Jose this season, claiming the 23-year-old left winger off waivers this morning.

It will be something of a homecoming for the 2015 fifth-round pick, who was sent to Ottawa in September 2018 in the Erik Karlsson trade.

But how has Balcers developed since then? And where might he fit in the San Jose Sharks’ line-up?

I spoke with two NHL scouts who shared their insights.
