Can Kahkonen Turn It Around?

Published

on

Kaapo Kahkonen is coming off an abysmal season for the San Jose Sharks. He posted a career-worst Save % and was one of the worst goalies in the NHL when it came to Goals Saved Above Expected. Can Kahkonen still be the goalie of the future for the Sharks? I start by analyzing Kahkonen’s season numbers and how his high-danger and in particular his medium-danger save percentages were what caused the issues (8:00). Then look at how the Sharks compared to the rest of the league in giving up high-danger opportunities (14:00). Finally, what does Kahkonen need to do going forward, and do the San Jose Sharks need an overhaul in how they evaluate goalies (19:00)?
