Joe Pavelski is doubtful to play in tonight’s game but could be close to a return.

The former San Jose Sharks captain fell victim to a brutal hit from Matt Dumba in Game One of the Dallas Stars-Minnesota Wild playoff series. No stranger, unfortunately, to playoff head injuries, Pavelski was diagnosed with a concussion.

Good news, Pavelski has been skating with the line-up scratches the last two days. So while Stars’ head coach Peter DeBoer did not rule out Pavelski for tonight, The Athletic’s Saad Yousuf pointed out that the veteran did not take part in full practice today, as Tyler Seguin was still slotted in Pavelski’s place on the top line alongside Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz.

However, the team is optimistic about Pavelski’s potential return to the series.

Tied 2-2, the Stars and Wild will square off in Game Five tonight. Puck drop is at 5 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on TBS.
