SJHN Daily: Pavelski Has Concussion After Dumba Hit, Dallas Columnist Calls for ‘Marchment’ Justice
In a scene all too familiar to San Jose Sharks fans, Joe Pavelski suffered an ugly head injury in a first-round playoff game on Monday night.

Pavelski’s head struck the ice after this Matt Dumba hit, leaving Game One of an eventual 3-2 Dallas Stars’ OT loss to the Minnesota Wild.
And today, Stars head coach Peter DeBoer, also familiar to Sharks fans of course, confirmed that Pavelski had suffered a concussion. There’s no timetable for Pavelski’s return.
Pete DeBoer confirmed that Joe Pavelski is in concussion protocol. He came in this morning and is “getting better every day.”
DeBoer was the Sharks head coach when Pavelski had that bad head injury in 2019. DeBoer said Pavelski “was in a much worse place that time” than now.

This is echoes of the DeBoer-helmed San Jose Sharks’ first-round series in 2019, when Pavelski got tied up with the Vegas Golden Knights’ Cody Eakin in the faceoff circle late in Game Seven:

Down 3-0 at the time, the Sharks rode the five-minute major power play called on Eakin to a 5-4 OT victory.
Hopefully for Dallas, Pavelski can return like he came back for the Sharks in Game Seven of their second-round series against the Colorado Avalanche. The Sharks would pull out a 3-2 win and advance to the Western Conference Finals.
Luke Glendening said they’re gonna miss Joe Pavelski. Their goal is to make it so he’ll play in the playoffs with them again.

The NHL did not discipline Dumba for his hit on Pavelski…
News: @NHLPlayerSafety will NOT have a hearing for @mnwild defenseman Matt Dumba after his hit took @DallasStars center Joe Pavelski out of Game 1 last night.
Source tells me it was considered "close to being late, but within allowable window." Dumba was given a roughing minor. pic.twitter.com/UGErHc9cRk

… which led to a Dallas media member calling for “Marchment” justice on Dumba.
A credentialed media member campaigning for this type of vengeance is disgraceful and beyond unprofessional. And video reviews are done in concert with the NHL Situation Room in Toronto not Dept of Player Safety in NYC, fyi https://t.co/LEoOZgoeO8

Bryan Marchment was a no-holds-barred defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers and Sharks in playoff battles against the Stars in 1997 and 1998 and 2000. Marchment became a scout and development coach for the Sharks from 2007 to 2022, until his untimely death last year.
His son, Mason, is currently a winger for the Stars.
