Grading Mike Grier’s First Free Agency Class

Published

on

San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier has been very busy in his first season, I look back at his first crop of free agent signings and how they performed in their first season with the Sharks. I start with Grier’s best signing in Nico Sturm and how he made a huge impact on the revolving door that has been the third-line center. I also examine how Matt Benning has been a great addition despite the length of the contract (6:00), and how Scott Harrington and Evgeny Svechnikov were good signings, especially for the circumstances (10:00). I look at how Oskar Lindblom and Markus Nutivaara were swings that didn’t work out for the San Jose Sharks (15:00). Finally, I look at the players on NHL contracts who mostly played for the San Jose Barracuda and how Andrew Agozzino and Derrick Pouliot became important pieces for the Barracuda (20:00).
