Connor Bedard, Macklin Celebrini Were Both at Martin Jones’s Day With the Cup

Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard have a lot in common.
Both are first-overall picks, the San Jose Sharks selecting Celebrini in 2024, the Chicago Blackhawks selecting Bedard in 2023. Both are from North Vancouver. Both grew up playing at local North Shore Winter Club.
And both were at Martin Jones’s day with the Cup.
Jones won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings in 2014 and brought the trophy to North Shore Winter Club on Aug. 20 that summer.
San Jose Hockey Now confirmed Celebrini’s attendance at the event, remembered in a photo at NSWC, in February.
Besides that, the then eight-year-old doesn’t remember much about that day.
“Not really,” the San Jose Sharks star laughed. “I was young.”

As it turns out, nine-year-old Bedard was also there.
Bedard confirmed his attendance to SJHN on Wednesday, on the eve of his first NHL game against Celebrini, pointing himself out in the day with the Cup picture to the right of Jones and Celebrini.
He’s behind the fist…he thinks:
Like Celebrini, Bedard didn’t remember much about that day, but he’s certain of one thing.
Both kids had the sense to not touch the Cup.
“No way,” Bedard laughed.
Hopefully, that’s an honor reserved for the San Jose Sharks or Chicago Blackhawks one day soon!
Brilliant, we’re counting on you to reveal a new hockey star in this picture on a monthly basis Sheng!!!! 😀
I, for one, am rooting for the Blackhawks to win exactly zero more Cups.
And it’s kinda hilarious that some older kid eclipsed a future 1OA with his fist in the pic. Macklin accidentally did the same to another kid, but I’m sure that kid wears it as a badge of honor!
Right. Every Cup the Hawks lift is one the Sharks don’t. They’re even in the same conference so they can’t be your cross-coast fav.
Yeah man. I’d do further, and say the Blackhawks are a disgrace to hockey for what they did to Kyle Beach. There was also the Patrick Kane rape allegations that were quickly swept under the rug. Absolutely dispacable.
In addition to that, are the Blackhawks the last North American pro sports team to use a cartoon depiction of an indigenous person as their logo? They gotta get with the times!!
They do have some outreach. They aren’t called the Chief Wahoos or Redskins or anything like that. It’s been worse. There are a lot of colleges with Native American associated names that have similar outreach programs and there is mutual support. Florida State, Illinios, and Utah are 3 off the top of my head.
