Locked On Sharks
First Look at Sharks & the Trade Deadline

Kyle and JD look ahead to the Trade Deadline to try and find some potential partners for the San Jose Sharks to work with. We look at why the Toronto Maple Leafs are the only team in the North Division who might be good partners, if the St.Louis Blues make sense for a penalty-killing specialist (9:00), or if trying to work with a team like the Pittsburgh Penguins, who don’t have much in the way of draft picks, is the way to go (13:00). Then we discuss if the San Jose Sharks moving Tomas Hertl for a bounty of picks and prospects is smart (19:00).

Keep up with all things San Jose Sharks here:
Hertl to Minny for the Penguin’s 1st round pick and 1 of their top 2 centers (Rossi or Khovanov).
If we move Hertl, it’s for a kings ransom. Yes, Byram and more.
Thinking about it from your points regarding Colorado and their defenseman, it works. It will hurt immensely. Seeing Tomas in another sweater, ugh.
Is the thinking really that we can get first round picks?? I know we did for Goodrow. Is this the new norm??
You’d probably have to attach an asset going back as well. It was Goodrow plus a 3rd for a 1st round pick and Anthony Geco (to even out the contracts). But most likely a 2nd round pick is the starting place and the Sharks do not have one of those in this year’s draft.
If we’re talking Nieto-Goodrow, I’d add Goodrow is a center, which adds tremendously to his value. If Nieto goes for more than third straight-up, I’d be surprised.
