Should Sharks Trade Back for Fyodor Svechkov?

Published

on

KyleErik, and JD are joined by Dylan Griffing of EP Rinkside to discuss the best defensive forward in the class, Fyodor Svechkov. We look at his statistical profile, and if the San Jose Sharks were to move down, how he could help solidify the bottom-six (9:30). Where Svechkov could land (12:30)? We finish by talking about bigger draft trends (17:30) and our blood pact questions (20:00).

this guest is pretty down on this draft class.

Lucius would be a top 6 pick if he wasn’t injured to start his season. he’s a chance-generating machine and possibly the best goal scorer in this draft. great IQ, vision, and hands. good on his edges, but needs more burst. he’s 17 and can build on his skating. he’s already a 200-ft player. can play either center (natural) or wing. again, 1 of the best players in this draft in the OZ.

if Eklund’s not available, i’m moving back to get this guy at 10th or 12th overall.

Eric Pichette

Do you know the nature of his knee injury? Anything to be concerned about long term?

he was able to get back on the ice an have, iirc, a 1.59 pts/game finish to his season. i haven’t read about any lingering concerns with his injury.

also, just compare him to Eklund, they have a very similar profile. both have first steps skating work to do, but good edge work and top speed. both are extremely high hockey IQ’s/vision on ice. Lucius is probably a better/more diversified shooter. i think Eklund likes to play around the net more.
