A week after suffering an injury in a game with the San Jose Barracuda, it was confirmed on Thursday that William Eklund’s season has come to an end after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum.

BREAKING: Eklund Has Shoulder Surgery, Season Over

This is disappointing news for the San Jose Sharks organization, as their top prospect was having himself a solid season with 17 goals and 41 points in 54 American Hockey League games. The good news, however, is that he is expected to be ready for training camp in September, and he let fans know on Saturday on Instagram that he is appreciative of all the well wishes he has received.

JD Young of Locked On Sharks reported that Eklund will be on his way back to Sweden soon for rehab.
