You never want to repeat a lede, but it’s appropriate here.

Three weeks ago, we quoted “Casablanca”, speaking of the San Jose Sharks’ injury woes,“Well, that’s the way it goes. One in, one out.”

Latest on Couture, Emberson, Carpenter, Kunin & Benning’s Injuries

Yesterday, Jacob MacDonald went on the IR. Calen Addison and Alexander Barabanov returned from injury.

Today, Givani Smith went on the IR, and Ryan Carpenter came off.

Not shocking, the Sharks lead the NHL in man games lost, per NHL Injury Viz.

As of Dec. 24, San Jose had suffered 176 man games lost, just ahead of the Montreal Canadiens’ 160.

With Smith, MacDonald, Ty Emberson, Matt Benning, and Nico Sturm on the IR, and Logan Couture still on the shelf with a season-long lower-body injury, the Sharks will keep adding to their ledger of pain.

The 9-23-3 cellar-dweller needs all the help that they can get — but a lot of that help is on the sidelines.
