Hertl Reveals Secret Behind Knyzhov’s Wig

The secret behind the wig revealed?
Last night, after scoring his first NHL goal in a 4-2 San Jose Sharks’ victory, Nikolai Knyzhov came out for his press availability wearing a wig.

“I don’t know,” Knyzhov said with a laugh when asked why he was sporting a wig. “Tommy [Hertl] told me I have to wear this. I don’t have a choice here.”
Today, Tomas Hertl revealed that the wig was actually a gift to Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who turned 34 on Tuesday.
“I actually got it for Pickles, for his birthday. It was hanging in our locker room and I just saw it,” the San Jose Sharks alternate captain said. “It’s kind of a joke, so [Knyzhov] will have the picture to remember his first goal. It’s nothing special behind it, just try to make a little fun there.”
But what’s the joke behind the joke? Why did Hertl give Vlasic a wig for his birthday?
Hertl shared: “Because he’s like, everyday, he’s scared of losing his hair and stuff. He’s using so many shampoos. He’s always cares. I try to make it funny because he’s always worried about his hair.
“I just give him the wig, so even if he lost it, he’s got extra hair at home.”
The San Jose Sharks are rising in the standings — they’re just four points out of the West’s final playoff spot — and they’re having fun at it. From Knyzhov’s wig last night and Erik Karlsson’s apple on Monday, Sharks’ post-game pressers have been more than “a little fun” this week.
