The San Jose Sharks might need to be patient with Valtteri Pulli.

“He’s a project,” an NHL scout from outside the Sharks organization told San Jose Hockey Now, “but it’s a bet worth making for a rebuilding team.”

It might need to be a relatively short-term project, at least judging by the 22-year-old’s just-inked two-year contract with the San Jose Sharks. Also, according to Ilta Sanomat, the left-hander has a contract with TPS Turku next season, so according to NHL-IIHF rules, if he doesn’t make the Sharks this fall, he will return to Finland. So the San Jose organization may not get the chance to develop Pulli in the AHL either.

I spoke with two NHL scouts who offered their thoughts on Pulli.
