The San Jose Sharks were beyond impressed by Jaccob Slavin’s 4 Nations performance.

“For my money, he was the best defense from the game,” Henry Thrun said of the American’s work in the USA-Canada 4 Nations final on Thursday. “I don’t think he had a point all tournament, which says a lot about him.”

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky actually texted blueliner Thrun mid-game with instructions to pay attention to Slavin.

Jack Thompson admitted that the Carolina Hurricanes defender’s game caught his eye too.

“You want to enjoy watching [the game] too, but same time, as a hockey player, when you’re watching hockey, you pick up on things that most fans wouldn’t even realize so for me, just pick up little things throughout the game.”

So what were the young San Jose Sharks defensemen paying attention to?
