Ryan Warsofsky is getting advice from Jared Bednar.

The South Carolina Stingrays alumni have been in the same boat, after all.

In 2016-17, Bednar, his first NHL head coaching job, took over the rebuilding Colorado Avalanche.

This past summer, Warsofsky, his first NHL head coaching job, took over the rebuilding San Jose Sharks.

The 2016-17 Avs started off 9-9-0. They won just 13 games the rest of the season, to finish with a 22-56-4 record. Their .293 Points % was the third-worst of the salary cap era.

The 2024-25 Sharks started off 10-13-5. They’re 4-19-1 since then, and just suffered one of their most lopsided losses of the season on Saturday, a 7-2 thrashing at the claws of the Florida Panthers.

The day after, San Jose Hockey Now asked Warsofsky about the kind of advice that Bednar is giving him, what’s going on with the San Jose Sharks’ recent record, and how the Sharks are still getting better in season.
