As a waiver wire pick-up from the Ottawa Senators, Balcers re-joined the Sharks organization in 2020 after being traded from San Jose to Ottawa in 2018. Balcers was a 2015 fifth-round draft pick of San Jose’s.

Balcers appeared in 61 games with the San Jose Sharks during the 2021-22 season, picking up 12 goals and 13 assists. The contract with the Panthers is a one-year, league-minimum ($750k) deal.
