While the San Jose Sharks welcomed new home and away sweaters to begin this season, those won’t be their only new jerseys worn in the 2022-23 campaign. If you somehow missed it, the NHL dropped their Reverse Retro jerseys for all 32 clubs on Thursday morning, much to the thrill of both players and fans alike.

It was reported here on San Jose Hockey Now that these Sharks reverse retros would be inspired by the 1974-75 Golden Seals home uniforms, and that turned out to be exactly the case.

Meanwhile, the early reaction from the players has been great. Timo Meier went as far as to call them “unbelievable” when speaking to Corey Masisak of The Athletic recently. Again, it’s early, but the fan reaction surrounding them seems to be quite positive as well.

The difference between these and the ’74 Seals jerseys is that this edition is, per Adidas, “remixed with a new Sharks wordmark in Seals typography and colors.” For those unaware, the Seals were the Bay Area’s first NHL team, first entering the league back in 1967.

The Golden Seals sweaters changed to the teal and yellow trim after Charlie O. Finley sold the team in 1974. Prior to that, their colors were green and gold, similar to that of the Oakland Athletics, another team that Finley owned at the time.

The NHL mentioned in today’s release that the second round of these Adidas reverse retro sweaters will be worn by all teams beginning in the month of November. Given how successful the first Reverse Retro sweaters were a two seasons ago, these jerseys should have no problem being as, if not more popular, than the original Reverse Retros amongst fan bases across the entire league.

For any San Jose Sharks fans wanting to get their hands on these slick sweaters, they will be available for purchase on Nov. 15 at adidas.com, adidas.ca, NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca, and local team stores. Prices are expected to range from $190-240 USD.
