First Look at How Sharks Might Shake Up Power Play (+)
David Quinn wanted the San Jose Sharks to get some special teams work in, and they sure got it in last night’s 3-2 OT pre-season victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

In response to a compressed training camp schedule, with the Sharks due to leave for Europe on Oct. 1, Quinn loaded up the San Jose line-up for the pre-season opener, dressing Timo Meier and Erik Karlsson, among other stars.
We got a first look at what could be the San Jose Sharks’ top power play unit: Karlsson, Meier, Logan Couture, Tomas Hertl, and Kevin Labanc.
“I like to load it up. Load it up as much as we can,” Quinn said of how he likes to spread talent on the power play. “You get your five best players out there and go to work.”
No doubt, the Sharks’ power play has some work to do: San Jose has had the eighth-worst man advantage in the NHL over the last three years.
So what might new assistant coaches Brian Wiseman and Scott Gordon, in tandem, have up their sleeves to turn the PP around?
