Sharks Shut Down Flyers 3-0 in Lindblom’s Return
The San Jose Sharks visit the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. Erik Karlsson notched his team-leading third goal, Steven Lorentz got his first as a Shark, Nico Sturm added an empty-netter, and James Reimer shut out the Flyers 3-0.

Barabanov chance: That’s how you want to play, AB on top of DeAngelo.
10 in: Meier connects with Sturm on stretch pass. Nice fake before long bomb.
9 left: Gregor showing more omph with his feet there today, getting shots off. Vlasic did a good job showing puck poise, making a play out.
7 left: Good keep by Labanc high. Sharks are playing fast and staying on top of opposition. Have liked them, overall, so far.
6 left: I like Gregor playing fast but careful with puck up middle, delivers to Hertl for an easy exit after a beat.
4 left: Svechnikov does a good job shaking Laughton to get his own shot off. In tight, he’s a legit player. Then he gets a one-timer in slot off.
3 left: Ouch backhand pass by Simek. Can’t do that unless you execute. That’s a big mistake that the San Jose Sharks don’t pay for. In his defense, that is one of the challenges of playing your off-side. It’s harder to execute that pass up the middle when you’re not on your forehand.
2 left: Another terrific Sturm line shift. Jury is out if the offense is there for him to be a 3C, but he continues to impress.
Gotta give Svechnikov credit. When Sharks signed him, I thought he was ticketed for Barracuda, but he's made the most of his opportunity so far. Have liked his game tonight, feet will always be a question, but he's good in tight

Big save by Reimer! San Jose Sharks power play trying its best to shank momentum. Poor in-zone play, then Karlsson goes toward middle in NZ when he should play it safer, turnover.
Labanc back on PP1. PP2 is Lindblom-Kunin-Sturm-Barabanov and a double-shifted Karlsson

A nice 5-on-5 start to dreaded middle frame for Sharks, but now challenged by a flagging power play, and now they’re on the kill.
Farabee goal: Why doesn’t Sturm get that call as he’s pulled down? Anyway, Flyers rush back with Sturm down, outnumbered attack. But no goal on off-side, reprieve.
Good one-on-one battle between Simek and Laczynski.
Karlsson goal: Great shift by top line. Two things I love tonight: They’re forcing turnovers everywhere, they’re hungry for the puck, that’s allowing the counterattack as opposed to Meier attacking set defenses. Then, Hertl heavy down low, that’s his bread and butter, finds Karlsson.
7 left: Nice rush started by Svechnikov move.
2 left: Good desperation defense by Simek, he doesn’t make stop along wall, a Flyer will be all alone in front.
DeAngelo looks like he knew Lorentz was coming for him in the corner. Now that's an effective forecheck https://t.co/VvzK9fxMoO

3 in: Good NZ stick by Megna. Another strong shift by top line.
4 in: Sturm line in NZ, bothers Flyers into turnover.
7 in: You can hear Flyers fans booing their team’s power play. What a tribute to Sharks PK.
6 left: Don’t love that, Frost beats Labanc up ice, Frost breakaway, Reimer big save.
Sturm ENG: Well deserved.
#SJSharks 1st third period goal of the year AND their 1st three-goal lead this season
