Winning, usually, makes a destination more desirable.

Right now, the San Jose Sharks are on the wrong end of that scale. As they progress through their rebuild, there are some side effects that come with being near the bottom of the standings. One key side effect is the team’s ability to acquire players, as a recent players’ poll by The Athletic showed. They were ranked the third-most likely team to be on a player’s no-trade list.

While the Winnipeg Jets top the list, despite dominating the Central Division, the Bay Area is often a highly desirable place to play in all sports. As the San Jose Sharks look to turn a corner, they’ll eventually make themselves an organization that pretty much all players want to join, however, it may take some time. As their rookies, both on the ice and behind the bench, gain more experience, the league should start to take notice.
