In other San Jose Sharks news…

The San Jose Sharks aren’t giving up Lake Tahoe without some shade:

Marleau added: “A lot of the guys, we were all in our rooms, doing our thing, reading books or watching TV. There were some fireworks they had here, guys were watching from their balconies. Pretty low-key.”

Also on New Year’s Eve, 2020 seventh-round pick Adam Raska notched an assist and skated 14:07 in a 7-0 Czech Republic WJC rout of Austria. 2019 sixth-rounder Santeri Hatakka led Finland with 24:29 played in a 4-1 loss to Canada.

Today, Russia, featuring 2019 second-round pick Artemi Kniazev and 2019 fourth-rounder Yegor Spiridonov will face off against Germany in the beginning of the knockout round. Finland takes on Sweden, Canada battles the Czech Republic, and finally, the United States squares off versus Slovakia. (IIHF)
