The San Jose Sharks welcome the New York Islanders into SAP Center on Pride Night. Kevin Labanc got the Sharks off to a quick lead, but the Isles bounced back for the 4-1 win.

Period 1

On Reimer, LGBTQIA+ Community & Questions Unasked

6 in:Johnsson quick to jump on Romanov after the Isles d-man lights up Hertl. Hertl, for now, stays on the bench, getting checked out, he’s OK for now. Quinn won’t mind San Jose Sharks getting extra penalty, I think, Johnsson quick to stand up for his guy.

Benning helped into room, uh-oh.

Labanc goal: Serving Johnsson’s penalty.

9 left: Kahkonen with the big save on Pageau breakaway.

6 left: Benning has had a rough night. Boarded by Clutterbuck, helped off again. Into the room again.

Pageau goal: Sloppy San Jose Sharks power play. Errant pass down low misses Couture, maybe he’s not ready for what was given him. Labanc cannot get puck in deep, high turnover. Karlsson absolutely walked by Pageau.

Benning, that glutton for punishment, back out there. Give him credit.

San Jose 5-4 Slot Shots.

Period 2

Palmieri tip goal: Looks like Pouliot on him, will need to re-watch.

3 in: Labanc OZ penalty, though my neighbor Curtis calls it a “horseshit” call lol. Wonder if Quinn will look kindly on it or not?

Pulock goal: A cannon! And great traffic.

9 in: Constant effort by Eklund, end of his PP shift, tries his best to keep it in. Quinn has noted he’s a high-energy player.

10 in: Guessing Quinn will not like that high in the zone OZ Labanc turnover.

9 left: Barabanov and Knyzhov (?!) with a lot of offensive energy and forechecking there.

Now 11 Slot Shots apiece. Setting up to be another we played OK but lost at home affair.

Period 3

Parise goal: He’s been doing that his whole career. Second tip goal that the San Jose Sharks have allowed tonight.

8 in: Don’t love Kaut’s first step, but when he gets going, he’s OK. A little like Hertl in that respect.
