San Jose Sharks
Dramatic Comeback for Sharks, Win 3-2 Shootout
The San Jose Sharks visited the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Sharks fought back and tied it off Steven Lorentz and Nico Sturm goals, then San Jose came out with the shootout victory.
Period 1
5 in: Wow what a pass by Kaprizov to Boldy. Can’t stop that.
Gaudreau goal: Partial line change, San Jose Sharks just fall asleep at the wheel. Think Megna, ideally, needs to hustle back to the middle, right after he flashes on Kaprizov.
Boy, Sharks are just getting worked right now. Got nothing from any line.
9 left: Benning breakout pass to Lorentz, Wild forecheck are right on top of him. No bueno, no chance.
8 left: Then Meier gets outworked by Steel, Wild 2-on-1. Yuck. Ferraro plays it well, then Meier has a breakaway, but nope. This is bad hockey.
4 left: That Couture diagonal pass through NZ ain’t it, right now. Turnover.
2 left: Finally, good, basic hockey from the Sharks. Kunin drives it for a rebound, Sturm center drive, but can’t put away a gimme. If San Jose can get out of period down just one, take it.
1 left: I like this Sharks play, really, Barabanov trying to skate it along wall, before pressure gets to him, he pulls up before center line, finds trailer speed.
Wild start 9-1 shots, then Sharks bounce back 6-1, hit post and miss an open net. So a heartbeat.
Period 2
Simek played one shift in first, won’t return.

1 in: San Jose Sharks string some passes together, set up late man Ferraro. That’s good hockey.
Labanc penalty: Sharks actually playing some competent hockey, hopefully this doesn’t short circuit it. Despite how bad San Jose started, it’s only a one-goal game.
Gotta double check again, but believe Sharks are only PK in the league without a high-danger 4-on-5 chance this year.
10 left: San Jose Sharks luck out, Labanc goes high to Benning coming down, but it doesn’t connect, Wild 3-on-1 that Rossi heels.
Vlasic had been good in tough spots today.
7 left: That’s a bad penalty by Labanc. Intentions aren’t bad, but you have to let the puck go there, let the man go. Can’t be so desperate to make a difference, you hurt your team.
I've never seen this before: Reimer's stick gets stuck underneath the boards, play goes on pic.twitter.com/NpuMROAuFU

PK comes through for Sharks again.
Be nice if #SJSharks reward Reimer for once, he's held them in game, get him the win with a strong 3rd period. Sharks at least playing competent hockey for most of the middle frame at least: Scoring chances and attempts at 5-on-5 close unlike in 1st period

Period 3
2 in: Good energy shift from third line, not great in last game, a bit more of a pulse tonight.
Can’t do anything there: Karlsson up top trips, Wild penalty killers have a 2-on-0 from blueline to blueline.
Kahkonen, coach give Karlsson a pat on the back. Tough break for EK65 there pic.twitter.com/tAuTOYzCNx

8 in: Nieto turnover high, Wild go other way for an extended shift.
10 in: Nice spin move by Barabanov to advance puck forward through NZ.
Lorentz goal: Simple hockey, Vlasic point shot, Lorentz puts it in. Lorentz has been underrated in terms of his ability to accumulate chances.
Sturm goal: Hey, one fluke goal (Karlsson on PP) deserves another. Good for Sharks for keeping at it.
San Jose Sharks have dominated in third period, 7-1 High-Danger at 5-on-5.
OT
Hertl-Meier-Karlsson to start.
2 left: Smart of Karlsson to direct tired Labanc and Nieto off ice.
