Preview/Lines #41: Meier Sets Personal Record, Faces Shot Rival Tonight
It was another heartbreaking loss for the San Jose Sharks last night, but Timo Meier was on his game.
Where Does This Loss Rank Among Sharks’ Most Devastating This Year?
Meier scored two goals, both initially credited to Kevin Labanc, but the Swiss winger told San Jose Hockey Now that he knew that he had tipped the pucks. Meier also set a personal record with 10 shots for the game. His previous high was nine, a feat that he’s achieved multiple times in his career.
“I don’t think I was forcing it tonight,” Meier said after the Sharks’ 5-4 OT loss. “I thought I was hanging around the net. It’s how we scored those two goals. Most of those [shots] were kind of chances where I got two shots, a rebound.”
Meier now leads the NHL with 188 shots, tied with David Pastrnak, who the Sharks are facing tonight. The 26-year-old also leads San Jose with 23 goals this season.
