SJHN Daily: Meier Scores in Devils Debut

It was Timo Time in New Jersey for the first time.
One week ago, the San Jose Sharks traded their top forward, Timo Meier, to the New Jersey Devils for a return centered around prospect Shakir Mukhamadullin and a 2023 first-round selection. However, the Swiss winger was still dealing with an upper-body injury that sidelined him for a couple more games.
Meier made his debut with the Devils in Arizona on a line with stars Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt. Less than 10 minutes into the contest, Meier scored his first with the team after collected a rebound in the slot.

Meier’s debut finished with the goal, a minor penalty, a -1 rating, and 15:57 in ice-time in the Devils 5-4 overtime victory over the Arizona Coyotes.
“[I had] a lot of energy to go out there and play,” Meier explained. “I haven’t played in a bit so I tried to keep it simple. The puck just followed me in front off the rebound and, yeah, it’s obviously a great way to start.”
Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks are 0-3-0 since dealing Meier.
“It was fun to get the two points tonight,” Meier said.
As part of a loaded, young forward core that also boasts Hughes, Bratt, Nico Hischier, and Dawson Mercer, Meier could be causing problems for Eastern Conference teams for years to come.
